Weaving with Pines

This work-in-progress is a contemplative graphic memoirette about seeking connection with earth’s materials and rhythms in an era of displacement. It focuses on the traditional craft of basket-weaving using pine needles, and my growing awareness of pine trees' significance to lands and traditional cultures disrupted by colonialism—in Israel/Palestine and the Pacific Northwest of the United States. It is about a humble path of connection to place that is not nationalistic or appropriating, but rather seeking to live with and between contradictions.
